  • I have a holistic approach when it comes to hoof care, and believe that if a horse is able to stay comfortable barefoot then I am happy to keep them that way. I trim conservatively, preserving as much sole depth as I can to allow the horse to keep what nature gave them, while providing proper breakover, eliminating distortion (flaring etc), achieving proper medial-lateral balance and a good round beval to deter chipping. The heels are brought back to the widest part of the frog (generally) to promote a heel-first landing. Barefoot horses are maintained every 6-8 weeks on average.

  • After a proper trim, appropriate shoes based on individual needs are chosen, heated up, shaped and nailed on. A half set consists of front shoes only (or hind shoes only) and a full set is when a horse is shod on all four feet. Shod horses are maintained every 4-6 weeks on average.

  • Some horses have diagnoses that require them to have more advanced shoeing packages. This includes but is not limited to bar shoes, reverse shoes, padded shoes (leather or plastic) with various packing based on the horse’s needs, aluminum shoes, and so on. Therapeutic cases are maintained every 4-6 weeks on average.

  • Shoe tack on services, taking off a shoe (if lame and needed), horse show services and emergency consults are all available.
